  1. Windows 10 Defender is too restrictive - how to reconfigure?

I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 nothing like procrastination.... and I have everything smoothed away and running nicely. There's just one fatal flaw in the new system. I have to go to Security Dashboard --> Firewall and Network protection --> Private Network --> Windows Defender Firewall OFF to be able to do almost anything.

I can't even check email with Outlook as long as my firewall is running. I spent a bunch of time adding exceptions for programs, but that didn't fix it. I keep getting errors that claim I'm not connected to the internet, when clearly I am. As soon as I disable the firewall, things work as expected.

I'm guessing that some settings I had in Windows 7 did not translate well to Windows 10. So basically, I need to know how to reset to the default settings! Any help would be much appreciated.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
