  1. My PC cannot find my boot drive

Today I did some work to my computer inside my case. I have 4 harddrives currently and wanted to remove one i was no longer using.

after removing the drive and doing some wire management i booted up and my computer can no longer find my boot drive yet the drive is still on and available in the bios as a selectable drive to boot from.

my harddrive setup is as follows

1: SSD 250gb drive with my operating system and basic programs

2: 1tb m.2 ssd: games and other programs

3: 3tb HDD for storage and files

4: 1tb a blank drive that had a recovery back up ( I wiped this drive and removed it from the pc)

after many attempts and searching i still cant figure out what is going wrong, i tried using a windows boot usb to repair the #1 ssd but no luck. so i installed windows onto my m.2 drive so i can take alook at the #1 ssd via windows.

does anyone have suggestions or ideas i can do to fix the main drive? or do i bite the bullet and start from from my m.2 drive?

    thanks reddit

    PC Build Steps

1.1 - Ideally put optical in SATA 0, and SSD in SATA 1, this will cause the optical drive to be the default 1st boot option. You can change it manually if not, but I like it this way
    2.infinity - yes, that's fine. if it's above 70 +/- 5 degrees, then it may just need a repaste/remount

    Can't boot from DVD drive

Is your controller in RAID/AHCI modes? If so, the DVD drive will be listed as a separate device in the list of available boot devices, not as "CDROM". Remember that when setting boot device priority. Otherwise, read the manual to see which hotkey during POST brings up the boot menu that lets you select which device to boot from. Even here, the drive will be listed separately, and not as "CDROM".
