  1. OneDrive issues

I have been having issues with OneDrive automatically downloading files upon installing Windows 10 for quite some time now. Every time I make a new installation of Windows 10, be it on a newly-built PC or reinstalling due to software issues, I am spammed with incessant notifications about my OneDrive storage being full after just days of use.

For some unknown reason, OneDrive is automatically set to backup your files AND permanently tie them with cloud storage, meaning if they're deleted from OneDrive they are also removed from your system without any prerequisite confirmation or consent. I am now forced to sit here and download gigabytes of files from OneDrive that I never wanted uploaded in the first place, but were uploaded regardless of my intentions or consent. This is a waste of my time and my limited data, but I cannot simply delete the files from OneDrive and keep them on my system because of the mandatory sync feature. No other cloud storage system makes this a necessity, because it should not be mandatory. It should be optional.

My biggest gripe here is the fact that OneDrive does not give any proper pop-ups that can be chosen when either installing Windows 10 or when adding a new account to a PC. There should be a window that appears in the notifications bar that asks the user if they want to back up their files, and if so, which files would they like to back up? Instead, users are forced to go through layers upon layers of tedious menus just to attempt to disable the OneDrive sync that many of them never even asked for.

The question of this post is when will this be changed? When will this be fixed? I've had this issue across multiple systems and across multiple accounts. I cannot be the only one forced to deal with these issues, and I am quite sure that there are many other people asking these same questions especially those without proper knowledge in the inner workings of computers, making this an accessibility issue as well.

I previously provided feedback on Microsoft's support website about these issues, but I was simply apologized to and told that the issue would be pushed further up the chain of command. The support member that replied to me acknowledged that these settings are enabled before the user even gets a chance to accept them as well. My question for here is if there is an ETA on when these issues will be fixed or investigated.

    Thank you.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
