Windows 10: Windows 10 update 1909 stuck at 70%

Running an up to date Windows 10 on a Dell Optiplex.


I've been trying to update one of my pc's to the Windows 1909 build and it gets to 70% and stops.


I've updated outdated drivers, restarted the update several times under different profiles with Admin privileges, tried to stop and restart Windows update and Background intelligent updater transfer service. It wouldn't stop the Background intelligent update transfer service, error was that it couldn't stop the service! None of these stpes has worked to fix the update issue.


There is no error code, but I do get the message sometimes after running the update that update failed because "update service was shutting down"


I'm out of ideas! Any help would be appreciated.

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

 

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.
