This issue started happening just a few weeks ago, it hasn't really been a problem but I have an online test coming up and i can't afford for it to happen during the test.

It just decides to shut down, even showing the "Shutting Down" screen that appears when you turn off the computer. At the beginning I was worried my laptop was overheating so I took it apart warranty expired two years ago and gave it a thorough cleaning; after that, I checked the temps while just doing some writing in Microsoft Word, and then while playing Destiny 2 at medium-high settings and everything came up normal.

But just an hour ago I was reading an email the one pertaining to the test and it just turned off. No errors or warnings; when I booted it up again tho everything was running as it had when it shut down; even the flash game I was playing online was still where I left it.

Virus scans come up with nothing, power settings are set to never shut down while plugged in No other option, the battery has been dead for about half a year, and all the power troubleshooting is telling me to do is to change my power plan to a more efficient one.

So any ideas? FYI the first random shut down happened when "Microsoft Teams" was installing ITSELF... WITHOUT ASKING... #stop putting stuff in my computer without telling me @Microsoft

    :)

  2. Major update interrupted by computer overheating shutdown

    Hi Sheila,

We would like to let you know that you're doing a great job on updating your computer to a newer version. Though you've encountered an error message "shutting down of your computer due to overheating" and "reverting back to previous version" reason for the
update not to push through. However, we would like to know the version of Windows 10 you're running on your computer now. It's for us to identify what would be the accurate steps to provide you. We also suggest that you provide us a screenshot of the updates
that have been downloaded to your computer. You may check this article to learn how to check the version of your Windows

    Computer Shuts Down

    Hi Austin,

If your computer shuts down unexpectedly when the battery is at 50%, it is possible that the battery is defective or that the drivers of the battery is incompatible with Windows 10 version 1709. For us to isolate the issue about shutting down when the battery
is at 50%, kindly respond to the questions below:

    • Is your computer new? Or, is it an old computer upgraded to Windows 10?
    • What is the make and model of your computer?
    • Have you checked if the driver for your battery is updated? If not, kindly do so.
    • What troubleshooting steps have you done? This is for us to know and to avoid any duplication of efforts on your end.

We look forward to your response.
