Windows 10: Device Encryption

So I have a dell laptop that has the Windows 10 Home system. For a couple of days, when starting up my laptop I got the blue BitLocker recovery screen asking me to enter the recovery key. After searching online to fix the issue, I turned off device encryption.


After turning off device encryption, I waited a couple of minutes to turn it back on only to come across an error. So I went into my system summary, scrolled down to Device Encryption support and saw the following message:


"Reasons for failed automatic encryption: TPM is not usable, PCR7 is not supported, TPM is not usable"


What exactly does this mean? Can I no longer encrypt my device?

For us to be able to isolate your concern why your devices page says it is not encrypted when you've turn on encryption, kindly answer these questions:

• Does this happen before you encrypt the device?
• Which Windows version currently running on your device?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

That encrypts just the internal phone memory and not the microSD, yet. Therefore:

• All apps » Settings » System » About » More info: Please, post (just) your OS build
• Did you try a new microSD already and did that face the same issue?
