  1. Sign On with local account on 3 different home computers and 2 different passwords

I just purchased and set up a new Dell All In One W10 home unit and it "required" me i.e. it seemed I had no choice in the matter to enter anumerical PIN to sign on which I did. Previously, I have set up two different laptops with analpha password with no problems. These two W10 laptops are less than 18 months old. In other words, at home with the new Dell unit I now have to sign on with a numerical PIN and on the road with my two laptops I presently sign on with an alpha PIN.

So, how do I sign in to all 3 Windows 10 unitswith only one numeric PIN? I ask this because I am getting a message from Microsoft advising there is something wrong with my account. I would have posted the message but it is gone now. Obviously they must not like me signing on with two different PINs, one being 4 numbers and the other two 4 letters.

All three W10 units are for home use and are fully up to date. Thank you.

    :)

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

    Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

    • Click on search in taskbar and type account.
    • Click on Accounts.
    • Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
    • Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
    • Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
    • Now, login to Local account.
    Hope it helps.

    Different Passwords for Two Computers

Okay, I've gotten as far as checking to make sure that my MS account is listed as the first account in "Your info." It is exactly the same in both computers. In fact, on both it lists me as Administrator.

On the laptop (on which I sign in with the old MS password) the options below my MS account email are:

    "Manage my Microsoft account"

"Stop signing in to all Microsoft apps automatically"

On the desktop (on which I sign in with the NEW MS password) the options below my MS account email are:

    "Manage my Microsoft account"

"Sign in with a local account instead"

Should I proceed with the next steps? Seems futile, especially as I just updated all software and drivers today when new updates were sent through, on both computers.

All information in term of build, version, etc. are identical in both machines. I am definitely on 1903.

    Thanks.

Linking Multiple Computers to MS Account with different local sign-on passwords

    Hi Spike,

Your conclusions are all correct. Linking your computers to your Microsoft Account will be helpful if you need to perform re-installation. Since it will be linked to one Microsoft Account, you would have to use the same password on all computers. If you
want to use different passwords on your computers, you can either use local accounts or ask the other users to create their own Microsoft Accounts.

Let us know if you need additional assistance.
