Windows 10: Is there an effective fix for Windows 10 WiFi Interrupts --- or --- Is this an ISP Problem...

My Windows 10 PC just drops Wifi periodically. This would be no big deal, except that is the only way it talks on my network. Internet searches show the usual, "update your drivers," "change this or change that," etc. which seem more like stabs in the dark than true fixes for a known problem. Anyway, I did all I could find; no change.


Can I say the occurrences are about an hour or so apart? I'm not sure; that's a guess. Can I also say this is a relatively recent annoyance, perhaps since the last Windows Update or the one prior? That also would be my guess.


Typically, one is working along, and suddenly pages don't load. If you look at Network and Internet Settings, most of the time the display shows your LAN as "connected, secured" as if WiFi is still working. Occasionally, it will show "No Internet" but that is rare. Fix: as soon as you notice the Wifi has dropped out, just "Disconnect," and then "Connect" --- WiFi is returned.


Network Troubleshooter of course says nothing is wrong.


Anyone have any ideas?

notebook won't accept my isp

• Are you connected to the WiFi hotspot but not getting Internet connectivity?
• Have you made any changes before experiencing this issue?

Wifi and browser problems with windows 10


I'll tell you how I fixed an identical problem on a ASUS laptop that had run perfectly on Windows 7 and ran well on W10 from January until the Anniversary update in early August. I tried everything I found on this forum and two others. Nothing worked. The last thing someone suggested was disabling the adapter and using a WiFi dongle. Problem continued. Nobody suggested changing the wireless network adapter. I bought and installed an Intel 7260 WiFi card and just used the driver which was downloaded on the reboot after the install. All problems solved!!

I must have wasted two months reading and trying everything. Even the manufacturer support inferred I needed a new machine though they sent me a Windows 8.1 driver to try, with the same result.

I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to determine if they white list any cards and see if they have suggestions for a compatible card. They may want you to buy another laptop but if the cards aren't white listed, a simple card swap to one compatible with Windows 10 seems to be the answer.

 

Help with Hardware Interrupts

To use Krview, ignore any driver that is part of Windows or that is for the CPU idle thread.
inteppm is for the CPU idle thread, ignore it.
hal and ntkrnlpa are part of Windows, ignore them.
ati2mtag is the first one on the list that is elevated and relevant.
Find out what hardware interrupt it uses and then any device that shares this interrupt could be the problem. It might not be ati2mtag.
If its the video driver, can you use another card?
Putting the computer to sleep might reset things.
