I have a standalone microphone that I plug in when I want to use it. I pretty much exclusively use the mic during multiplayer games, and leave it unplugged and tucked away in a basket on a nearby shelf when not in use because I'm kind of ocd about desk clutter. When in use, I have the listen feature on for the microphone so that I can hear my own voice (for many reasons which I won't get into here). In order to use the listen feature I need to go into the sound mixer settings and adjust the listen volume down to about 5% volume. When I do this, it works exactly how I like it, and it suits my needs perfectly. The only problem is that every time that I disconnect and reconnect the mic it resets the listen sound mixer setting to 100% and I immediately get insane screeching feedback until I can get into the mixer settings and readjust it back down to 5%. This makes it so that I can't use sound activation in discord or in games because I destroy the ears of everyone I'm talking to when I plug my mic in, not to mention it destroying my own ears (regardless of push to talk being on or off) as well. Is there any way to make Windows 10 remember the listen sound mixer level between disconnection/connection? Any way at all without keeping it plugged in? Modifying/adding a registry value? 3rd party program? Anything?

Headphones' Microphone Volume Under the "Levels" Tab Disappeared

    Hello Ferryn,

Seems that you're done with some troubleshooting steps. For additional assistance, try following the steps provided:

    • Go to Sound properties > Recording tab.
    • Right Click Microphone Device.
    • Click on Listen tab.
    • Check Listen to this device.

    Thank you.

  3. Microphone: No Levels, Is detected and Is working when "listen to this device" is on

All of my USB microphones are being detected by Windows 10. Drivers installed and updated.

When I view the levels I get nothing. Microphone input levels have been muted, un-muted, and turned to 0 and back to 100.

All other software detects the microphones, but there is no audio. When I go into my sounds control panel and check listen to this device, they work just fine. Mic volume comes through the speakers fine. However, there are no input levels. Multiple mics
checked - Rode Podcaster, Logitech 1080p HD Webcam Mic, and a Razor headset.

    To review:

    - Mics are detected

    - Drivers updated

    - Listen to this device works

    - no levels in any software or sound control panel

    - multiple mics tested

    In addition:

    - Flashed and updated BIOS

    - Updated MoBo Firmware and USB Drivers

    - Reinstalled Audio drivers for sound card.

I'm at a loss at what else to try.

Lifechat LX-3000 on Windows 10 on Lenovo P50 microphone levels way too low and noisy

I have a Lenovo P50 laptop and the built in microphone and speakers are working just fine. The levels are nice and Skype calls work ok. I just purchased an LX-3000 and the headset speakers are working just fine, but the microphone levels are way too low.
I've tried everything I could find to poke around with and everything I've seen on other posts regarding this issue including:

    - Disabling/uninstalling all sound-related drivers for built in and headset devices and reinstalling them

    - Disabling all internal devices when working with headset

    - Setting headset as default device for communication and otherwise

    - Increasing/decreasing mic levels (no boost shown in UI, just level 0-100)

    - Disabling all sound effects

    - Removing exclusive access flags

    - Listening to and not listening to the mic

    - Disabling/enabling AGC (assume that's automatic gain control)

    - Changing bit depth and sample rate

    - Pulled my hair out

I can't think of anything else to try. Is there anyone that actually has this working with a recent Lenovo Laptop (or even a P50) on Windows 10 and if so, any suggestions?
