Windows 10: Windows 10 update

Windows 10 update keeps failing with message: Windows could not configure one or more system components. To install Windows, restart PC, restart the installation.

a it doesn't tell me which components are involved so I can't take a look at those.

b if I follow the instructions the update merely fails again with the same message.


I checked the system log which suggests that event id's 5005 and 5215 are involved. I ran SFC /SCANNOW which reported no errors. Then I ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth which also reported no errors.


Am retrying the Update, but what do I do if I get the same error message again which I suspect will happen - had the same condition one month ago?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Well just noticed a pretty large one pop up coming in at 914MB, seems it makes some pretty serous updates.
