  1. All my files are gone after taking ownership of the folders in my secondary HDD.

Hello, I just finished fresh installing Windows 10 Pro on one of my PCs. When I plugged back in the secondary HDD containing all my files I proceeded to take ownership of the main folder and all subfolders inside the HDD using the regular method which I have used countless times already but now whenever I try to open said folder it shows me the stock user folder's icons and empty folders instead of everything I had in there.

I downloaded Treesize and it shows all my files are still in there, but I can't access them from the Windows Explorer. Any ideas what might be going on and how to fix it? Thanks!

    :)

  2. Take Ownership Takes Over

I used a .reg file to add "Take Ownership" to my right click context menu, but now it's at the top of the list in BOLD and it automatically executes when I right click on a folder in Windows Explorer (not other file explorers), instead of the folder simply
opening (SIGH) How can I make Take Ownership just a regular choice?

  3. How to I list folders and files inside the WindowsApps folder WITHOUT taking ownership?

    Hi guys!

Like the Subject says "How to I list folders and files inside the WindowsApps folder WITHOUT taking ownership?"

Because every single time I've taken ownership of WindowsApps it breaks something. But I have to get the path to my games installed there.

Can't get take ownership of a folder

No hardware or software changes were made recently.

The version is Microsoft Windows 10 Pro v1709

The troubleshooting steps I have done are that I've tried to take ownership several different ways. I made sure the file settings weren't set to encrypted.

Would enabling the built in Admin allow me to take ownership of the folders?

Also I do believe the folders change name so when I enter the path I was given a few day ago by the external backup site, it says the folder doesn't exist. Is this something that happens in the with this folder path?
