    Persistent audio chiming

My Win 10 PC is patched up to date as of today 18 Feb. 2020. I have an old Bose surround sound system fed from the audio out jack. The PC recently started producing continual three or four note system chimes as when connecting a new USB device etc. I completely removed the Realtek audio utility and re-installed a current download. For a couple of hours, after reconnecting my audio output 3.5 jack to the rear of the PC previously via front panel jack socket all was OK. Then, suddenly after rebooting the infuriating continually repeating system chimes came back. The desired audio -for example from a BBC site - still plays normally but with added chimes.

I've fiddled with various settings but to no avail. Naturally the useless "troublemaker" utility offers no clues. However disconnecting the output for a while, then reconnecting it causes the audio to perform normally - ie minus the system chimes. However at some point the fault returns - and can be eliminated by disconnecting the audio output for a while and then re-connecting without a reboot in this case.

I suspect that the Realtek stuff is causing the problem. When reloaded from the latest version it appears to lack the multi-speaker UI etc which was the one minor useful function of the previous version. I'd like, if possible to eliminate Realtek software completely.

    Suggestions appreciated.
