    Warning about "Allow Remote Assistance"

I have just done Cortana > System > System Control Panel > Advanced system settings > Panel "System Properties" > Tab "Remote" and found "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer" was checked!.

This can allow intruders to get control of your computer if, unguardedly, you give him details about it. It should be off unless you actually need remote assistance.

  3. Using Remote Desktop to connect to Windows 7 PC from Windows 10 PC

    Hi,

To isolate your concern, we'll need the following information:

    • What exactly the error message are you getting?
    • How do you set up Remote Desktop connection?
To check if you are doing it right, make sure Remote Desktop settings is turned on using Windows 10. To check, follow the steps below:

    • Press Windows key.
    • Type Allow remote access to your computer.
    • On the Remote tab, under Remote Assistance, check Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer.
    • Under Remote Desktop, check Allow remote connections to this computer.
    • Click OK.
To check if Remote Desktop is set up on Windows 7, follow the steps below:

    • Go to Control Panel.
    • Click System and Security.
    • Click System.
    • On the left pane, click Remote settings.
    • On the Remote tab, under Remote Assistance, check Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer.
    • Under Remote Desktop, check Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)
    • Click OK.
Afterwards, you may now go ahead and start the Remote Desktop connection.

Let us know how it goes.

    Remote Desktop

I am trying to use the Remote Desktop but could not make it work. I tried the instructions :

    • First, you'll need to set up the remote PC to allow remote connections. On the remote PC, open Settings and select System > About. Note the PC name. You'll need this later. Then, under Related settings, select System
      info.

    • In the left pane of the System window, select Advanced system settings.

    • On the Remote tab of the System Properties dialog box, under Remote Desktop, select Allow remote connections to this computer, and then select OK.

    • but the Remote Desktop option still does not appear on my PC. Any advice?
