Windows 10: VSS Not funtioning properly

I am unable to get the VSS process to work properly. I get this report from Acronis:


1. Some disks may be overloaded. VSS may behave incorrectly under such conditions. Stop heavy operations or wait until completion.



2. Volume Shadow Copy Service warning: VSS was denied access to the root of volume \\?\Volume{b7539be4-7c73-49fa-ad9a-1286516a36f9}\. Denying administrators from accessing volume roots can cause many unexpected failures, and will prevent VSS from functioning properly. Check security on the volume, and try the operation again.



3. Volume Shadow Copy Service warning: VSS was denied access to the root of volume \\?\Volume{916bf754-8f26-42d2-aa29-5a823f4f1a81}\. Denying administrators from accessing volume roots can cause many unexpected failures, and will prevent VSS from functioning properly. Check security on the volume, and try the operation again.



4. Volume Shadow Copy Service warning: VSS was denied access to the root of volume \\?\Volume{fefe103d-98ca-4fe1-af63-8be36a5978bd}\. Denying administrators from accessing volume roots can cause many unexpected failures, and will prevent VSS from functioning properly. Check security on the volume, and try the operation again.

Otherwise I suggest- assuming your disk and file system are sound-
an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs, data and most settings

You need an iso of the same base language and build- freely downloadable.

 

VSS Errors 8193 and 13

I'm not that familiar with it to say that, but I do know that if the system needs to "freeze" that picture to update without interrupting the flow for the user, VSS re-routes the user and system writes via the VSS writers, system does it's thing, and VSS flushes the updated data back real-time. Problems occur usually when the writers can't start properly, or can't close the writers properly. Dangling data causes VSS errors and possible corruption. 99% of it is way over my head. For example, at the end of Macrium backup, last step is to close the VSS writers and flush back. You see a pause in the action for a few seconds before the completion message.

 

VSS errors during upgrade to Windows 10, should I care?

• Are you using the installation media in USB or a DVD/CD?
• Do you have any backup for Windows 10?

The issue might have been occurred while installing/upgrading to Windows 10. The services may have not been loaded at the time of installation. So, I suggest you to check if the VSS service is running in Services by following the steps provided below:

• Press Windows key + R key, type services.msc
  and press Enter.
• From the list of services, locate and right click on Volume Shadow Copy
  and select Properties.
• Check if the service is running. If not, set the startup type
  as Automatic, click on Apply and OK.
• Restart the system and check for status.
