  1. Zombie file cannot be deleted (access denied & file not found)

I am trying to delete a file and when I list the contents of the folder it ‘lives in, the file is visible but:
When I try to erase the file or change its attributes, I get an “Access Denied” message.
When I try to take ownership, I get a “File not found” message.
When I try to delete the entire folder, I get told I can’t do that because it’s not empty
I am logged into an administrator account
I tried logging in in Safe mode and deleting it: No luck
I tried logging in from the built-in Administrator account: No luck
I tried various Unlocker utilities such as File Assassin, and DeleteInvalidFile: No luck
Checkdisk tells me, there are no errors on this drive.
    Any ideas?

    Denied Access to delete files

Thanks for suggestions. I tried AVG Remover but it found nothing; probably because I had already deleted the bulk of the files. I also tried Command and Safe Mode but both gave Denied message. So the question remains how do I get access to delete files? Would changing to MS login at Start help?

  3. Denied access to files

    Nforce2 > nvidia.com. There you find drivers.

As for accessing files, take ownership.

Zombie file cannot be deleted (access denied & file not found)

    Denied access to files

Ok I got a pc in from a friend and he wants me to fix it, it doesn't boot up properly so I was thinking reinstall windows but first I have to save all his songs and crap. First problem it denies me access to the files on his HDD when it is hooked up to my pc .... damn. Second problem is that it is a very, very old pc nforce 2 chipset and I can't ID the board so I can't get the drivers. It won't turn on so I can't check it that way any ideas.
