Windows 10: Why does "HP support Assistant" updater always freeze up Windows 10

At first I thought it was my laptop- until I got a brand new laptop (another HP - but still running windows 10). Every time I see that annoying HP support upgrade thing popup, I have to get task manager to force quit it. If I simply try to click it off, it slows everything down for several minutes until it finally closes. I pretty much keep task manager open all the time just in case I have to force quit it. If I don't have task manager already up, then the computer will lag so much that it will take 5 minutes before I can even click the start button. Very annoying.

HP Support Assistant is not working in Windows 10

Hi Everyone!

After I upgraded my laptop (HP Notebook 2000) to Windows 10 from 8.1, I can't open HP support Assistant. It gives a message saying " HP support assistant has encountered a problem and will shut down".

Could someone help suggesting a solution to this. Will remain grateful.
