Windows 10: HP M451dn printer will no longer print duplex after windows 10 upgrade

I have been using the HP Laser jet Pro 400 Color M451dn for years! I have been printing newsletters and many other documents both through office as well as PDF files using duplex printing without issue.


At the beginning of February I got a new computer with Windows 10 I was using Win7. Transferred everything from the old tower to the new. Everything has worked just fine. Now I go to print and I only have the option to print 2 sided documents manually. I get the same "manual" option when I print in publisher and PDF.


What has changed? What can I do to get back the option for duplex printing?

Wireless Printer Will Not Duplex Print


I'm not sure this is a Windows problem. It may be an HP problem but I've not been able to get a solution on their forum so here goes a try on this forum

My HP Envy 4520 wireless network printer will not duplex print when installed on my HP Pavilion Notebook. The printer will not give me the ability to duplex print automatically. Printer preferences shows only 2 sided manually and that requires me to manually remove paper, turn it around and insert it in the printer. A pain in the neck for I do a lot of multi-page printing.

How do you auto-duplex on HP m277dw printer with Windows 10?

Various forums suggest setting the Duplex Unit to Installed on the Device Settings dialog to get the HP m277dw printer to print double sided. I have done this and it works if I manually flip the pages:





This model printer has allowed for automatic duplexing for versions of Windows prior to Windows 10.

What can I do to cause the printer to auto-duplex under Windows 10, whether that's a setting on the printer itself, a driver update, or some obscure Windows setting? HP Support doesn't seem to know what to do.

 

Automatic duplex printing no longer available on my HP Envy

Hi, hope someone can help.

Overnight, my printer has stopped doing automatic duplex printing on PDF documents. It is an HP Envy 4520.

I have not made any changes to hardware or software/or done any upgrades etc. I use Windows 10. I have tried to update the device driver but it is up to date.

I have tried using the HP smart app as seen on another thread but it still requires me to manually move the paper to print the second side.

Under printer properties it says double sided but if I look under device settings it now says 'not installed' next to 'automatic duplexing unit.

I have not had this problem previously, and it was doing automatic double sided printing 2 days ago!

Any suggestions?
