Windows 10: IME Japanese kana input failure

Please kindly advise what to do.

I searched and tried many ways of finding the solution, but everything failed so far.

I cannot change romaji input into kana hiragana, katakana, kanji Chinese characters although the Japanese language pack seems to be installed. I cannot download basic typing, handwriting, spelling. The error appears each time.

Japanese IME Keyboard not typing in kana but just English

Hello,

I installed the Japanese IME keyboard a year ago, and it was working fine. I would type in the romanji and then the corresponding kana character would appear on screen. I could switch from English to kana at any time via the little
keyboard icon at the on the taskbar that looked like this "あ"
when it was on kana mode and "A" when it was on English mode. However, now when I switch try to switch to the Japanese keyboard it doesn't even show the kana icon "あ" just the English one.
I've tried re-installing and restarting my computer, but it does nothing. I eve tried going into advanced settings to play around with it, but nothing. I don't want to mess up my other computer settings, so I stopped trying to fix it myself.

I need help because I need this function for my studies.

 

Japanese IME "ro" key disappeared

When I had started using kana input for Japanese IME about a year ago, tilde was always "ro" and I would use the "shift-caps" shortcut to switch from alphanumeric to kana, which was annoying to begin with because if you switch to the Japanese keyboard,
shouldn't it default in Japanese?? But that's a minor detail.

The problem is, I got a new laptop, and on the first day of using it, everything regarding Japanese IME input was the same. It wasn't until literally just a few minutes ago, where the tilde key did NOT input "ro", and instead changed the keyboard from alphanumeric
to kana, and the "shift-caps" shortcut no longer does anything. After searching the IME settings and scouring google for a similar happening, it would seems as though tilde NEVER input "ro" to begin with and the "shift-caps" shortcut is nowhere to be seen.
What the hell happened in the last 24 hours?? I actually can no longer input "ro" with a kana keyboard setting and that doesn't make any sense. What changed, and how do I change it back

 

Typing numbers and signs in Japanese IME

We understand your concern as you are unable to type numbers and signs when you switch to Kana input for Japanese IME.



We reproduced the issue on our lab machine and we were also unable to type numbers or signs using Kana input. We then used
ALT + ~ (tilde) key to cycles between kana and direct input mode. You may want to try this and see if it’s convenient while using Kana input.



However, I commend and appreciate you for recognizing this behavior. This is a valuable suggestion as there may be other users with a similar requirement. Hence, I suggest you to leave a

Feedback for this product so that our developer team can look into this and check if it can be implemented in the future updates.
