  1. Is there any way of knowing which soundfonts W10 is using to play back a MIDI file?

I accidentally opened a MIDI I was working on with Windows media player and I really like the soundfonts it automatically applied to them, is there any way to 1. access these soundfonts as an sf2, and 2. work out from the midi or from windows media player which soundfonts are actually being used?

Here is the midi if you're curious

  2. Playing MIDI files

Dennis, you can try playing MIDIs with Windows Media Player, but I don't know whether that still works in Win10. However there are lots of third-party media players you can use instead, such as Winamp, AIMP, XMPlay, Foobar2000 etc. Depending on the player
you can also select external SoundFonts for your MIDIs.

  3. Playing MIDI files

    Hi Dennis,

To isolate your concern, provide the answers to the following:

    • Are you receiving an error message when trying to play a MIDI file?
    • On what program are you trying to play it with?
    • What program were you using before to be able to play it on your computer?

    Regards

What can I try to get MIDI files to open again in Windows 10 Pro 64bit April Update 2018

    Hi all,

I'm currently having a problem with playing MIDI files with the windows media player. I get an error every time I try to open a MIDI File. It works in Open ModPlug Tracker and Apple's Quicktime, but not with other players that don't require a soundfont
file for playback. I'll admit I haven't been playing MIDI Files in a while, but it's important to my sequencers. I can play my keyboard in eMedia Piano for dummies, but I can't playback MIDI Files. Would some one help me with a fix.

    Sincerely

    D'mitri
