    Lenovo 730 Yoga Touchpad Issues

    Hi!

I recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 730 second hand, with a broken touch screen. It was working fine until the touch pad or mouse would get dragged to the top right of the screen, where I would see little white dots with crosshairs on them Touchscreen dots? I unplugged my mouse, and I still had the same problem. Anyways, I've uninstalled and updated drivers for both the mouse drivers and the touchpad drivers, and it didn't make any difference. Because the touchscreen no longer works, I've disabled that as well. The mouse shadow is also disabled. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, and that seemed to make it worse. I haven't yet tried the BIOS solution to see if the problem persists in BIOS, is that my next step? I don't exactly have a ton of files to worry about on this laptop, so a system reset isn't actually too difficult, just wondering what the next step should be.

    :)

Laptop Touchpad Problems: Windows 10 Lenovo Yoga 730

    Hi Suman,

First of all I appreciate you trying to help me out with this issue. It's a very odd one as it started happening rather abruptly.

Unfortunately, I tried all of your methods (sort of, will get into the details shortly) and none of them fixed my touchpad.

Before I get into what I did with your provided methods, I'll also go ahead and answer your first two questions about my laptop:

    1. No, I am not aware of (or at least have not noticed) any major changes to my laptop prior to this malfunction with the touchpad. It started one day and got progressively worse to the point where nothing I do fixes mouse functionality at all. Windows update
at the time was still staying that my system was all up to date.

    2. I am using Windows 10 on this device, which it already came with at the time of purchase. Let me know if that is not what you are asking. I just assumed so.

    Now, for the methods:

For method 1, windows update was one of the first places I went to try and fix the issue. I checked for updates multiple times even after rebooting my Yoga and nothing changed with the touchpad.

For method 2, I got to device manager and selected show hidden devices. I then checked for any items listed as unknown under universal serial controllers. I found nothing with that name. When continuing with your instructions, I could not, however find my
USB 2 keyboard driver device (checked under universal serial controllers). All I had under that label was a couple USB composite devices, a USB root hub (USB 3.0), and an Intel (R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft). Because of this, I could
not continue with the rest of this method.

I had heard of trying Lenovo Vantage updates in the past. I tried it this time and the updates did not fix the problem either. Method 3 did not work.

For method 4, I had already tried in the past to update the mouse drivers in device manager, and again, nothing changed.

With all of that mentioned, I think it might also be worth noting that under Human Interface devices in device manager, there is an item listed as I2C HIID twice (there are two of them), and one of them had an exclamation icon next to it. I looked at the
properties of that one, and it said in the general tab under device status:

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

I looked up this error code online and tried the fix methods suggested, from uninstalling that specific item to trying to update it, and neither have worked. I am not sure whether this is the culprit behind my touchpad problem, but I am relatively confident
that it very well could be. I was wondering if you could provide any insight into whether this is related to my touchpad malfunction and if so, how to resolve it.
