Windows 10: File loss in window.old in the process of updating window10 1809 to 1909

All my files were lost in the process of window10 updating to 1909 from 1809.

On Feb 19th all of sudden I could not access to all my files which were saved in OS C' window.old Users Name documents. I think when I was transferred from old computer, all the files were saved there and I was keep using them.

At the same time computer said window support is finishing and there is some problem so I need to update.

So I updated but files are not seen anymore.

I contacted MS and they checked and said they cannot help about data. They said it is updating from version 1809 to 1909 and recommended to consult recovery specialist.

I contacted computer specialist and he checked the recovery point setting was not on so I do not have recovery point.

I contacted recovery specialist and he said he can try recovery to check all the part of SDD my laptop has 1TB SSD but files will show up without name only with extensions.


Is there anyway to fix the problem to be able to access all my files saved in window.old lost during the enforced updating process of window 10?

Windows 10 1903 1909 repeated failure to update

Well would't you know it. I did everything, every step, all the suggestions, months of failed downloads and was going to wipe everything tomorrow and start again, but remembered I hadn't tried your suggestion of updating to 1809 before 1903/09, and blow
me down, but it's updated to 1809 with ease!

I have yet to dare to try and get it to update to 1909 but it's the 1st progress in months, so thanks.

 

Windows 10 update 1909

Hey,

I've just clean installed windows 10. It is build 1803.

Today awesome 1909 have launched. I want to update to 1909 but in settings it is showing me option to upgrade to 1809. My friend told me I have to upgrade to 1809, then 1903 and then finally 1909.

I want to directly upgrade to 1909 without going through intermediate steps. How can I do this?

 

Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

Steps to confirm issue:

• Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
• Secondary drive not visible in device manager
• Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

Steps to replicate issue:

• Installing 1909 update

Steps to resolve issue:

• Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.
