    Hi,

    I'm sure this is the millionth time somebody has asked this but my win7 to win10 has been working from day one, everything genuine, boxed win7. I'm now on win10 from years back when MS offered a free upgrade. Since yesterday, my PC is now unuseable and I have a "Activate Windows" warning on the bottom corner of the screen. Error 0xC004F012.

    I have not changed any pc parts and I have not done anything to it apart from letting windows update itself.

    Automated help is of no use and does not offer me a resolve,

    customer service phone call always puts me through to india and they say they can't hear me due to bad reception or simply drop the call without anybody even starting....

    What can I do? can't get online with that PC now... dunno why.... All options of help are useless, the last place is now here.

    Please help!!

    :)

  2. Win7-->Win10 not yet ready

    I have two identical PCs at home. One is Win7 Prof 64bit and the other was Win8-->Win8.1 (I forget which version, probably Prof 64bit).

    The Win8.1 machine was upgraded to Win 10 Professional 64bit ages ago, but the Win7 machine is still reporting Win10 is not yet ready for this device. How is that even possible? The two PCs are identical hardware setups, drivers etc. The Win7 version is
    genuine, activated and SP1.

    Do I need to communicate direct with Microsoft? The clock is running out for the upgrade...

  3. Win7 --> Win10 upgrade

    When MS made the Win10 free upgrade available, I upgraded my win7 system to win10. Some time after that, I had a disk failure and reinstalled win7 because it was my understanding the free win10 upgrade was no longer available. That was a year and a half
    or so ago. Now I was just reading that, in fact, Microsoft keeps that information on a server and that I could, in fact, reinstall win10. Is that correct? I would really have to put win10 on and then find out it wasn't licensed and I had to go back and reinstall
    win7.

    Win10 Activation Error (from Win7) Error 0xC004C003

    Under advice, due to the unique circumstances, I have begun y own thread.

    Most recent:

    Yesterday I have taken a different approach I was trying to avoid, but to see if things would resolve. I installed a "clean" drive (unformatted) and did a clean install of Win7. I activated it successfully and downloaded and installed almost 200 updates.
    I installed only updates and drivers, no apps of any sort. I then downloaded the .iso and burned to disk, then today I have performed the upgrade to Win10 with the disk image.

    Currently there is no "Activation" display on the desktop, but I get the same error as before when trying to activate Win10. Same code as before "0xC004C003" Error Description: The Activation Server determined the specified product key has been blocked.

    Again, I have no apps installed, only a clean Win7 install then upgrade to Win10 using a disk created from the .iso. I have downloaded and installed all Win10 updates available.

    Geeze, I'm surprised YOU can keep track of all that!

    Your situation is so involved & convoluted that it'd be best if you started your own, new thread.

    That being said, here's an idea for you:

    • Format the HDD then do another clean install of Win7 - but do NOT connect it to the internet.
    • If, perchance, the clean install installs a Norton free-trial again, uninstall it, download (using a different computer) & run a fresh copy of the Norton Removal Tool & reboot.
    • Use the ISO do upgrade to Win10. (No, you don't need to install any Win7 updates if you're upgrading via the Media Creation Tool & ISO.)
    • Once Win10's up & running, do NOT install the Norton application, just make sure Windows Defender & Firewall are enabled and working properly.
    • Run a manual check for updates and see if any/all updates offered (e.g., KB3081444) will successfully install (which will only happen if the Win10 install is legit/activated).
    Good luck! If you need further assistance, please begin your own new thread - then reply to this post & give me a link to your new thread.
