Windows 10: How to hide the game bar

Apparently you can hide the "Menu" by pressing F11, but when I am in a a game and have started a recording, F11 has no effect?


How do we turn off all of the overlays? I have a recorder by another vendor that jsut gives me a blinking red dot in the corner, how do I get the windows recorder to declutter, I have 3 menus over the top of the screen, which make playing a bit harder than it needs to be. By Default, this feels all wrong. how do we hide the overlays?

Hiding New Game Bar when Recording

Hi LeviathanTheEsper,

Normally, You can play your games while recording it in the background. It seems that background recording is not enabled on your computer that's why the Game bar is showing up when playing your games. Let's check if background recording is enabled by performing
the following steps:

1. Press the Windows key, then select the gear icon to access Settings.
2. Go to Gaming.
3. Select Game DVR.
4. Under Background Recording, check if the toggle switch is enabled.

Unable to hide Task bar

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

a. Right click on the Task bar.

b. Click on Properties.

c. Put a check mark next to ‘Auto-hide’ the task bar.

d. Click on Apply and OK.

If the issue persists try the below steps to restart the Windows Explorer and check if that helps.

Step 1: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc keys to open Task Manager

Step 2: Click on
More details.

Step 3: Under the Processes tab, right-click on Windows Explorer entry and then click Restart.
