Windows 10: To write the script xcopy to backup the files on daily basis with file history

Hi

I have a folder

c:\myapp\text1.txt

c:\myapp\text2.txt

c:\myapp\text3.txt

c:\myapp\training\>training.doc


When I take the backup and if there is any change in the content of the file , the existing file should be moved to the folder c:\myapp\archive_230220\>text1.text and the oroiginal file should be copied on the same place. Simillarly if there is any change on the content in training.doc, the existing file should be moved to c:\myapp\training\archive_230220\>training.doc. And the original file should be replaced with copied file.

Please can you give me the suggested code how to write the xcopy of for the folder c:\myapp.

File History restart

To change the backup drive for File History, the current process should be stopped. I suggest you to try the steps listed below to stop file history on an older drive and restart it on a new drive:



Change File History backup drive:

• Open Settings and navigate to Update & Security > Backup.
  
• Click on More Options, scroll down to locate
  Backup to a different drive section, and choose Stop Using Drive.
  
• Plug in the new storage drive, navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Backup,
  and choose Add a Drive.
  
• Restart File History and configure it by referring to the article
  
  File History in Windows.

File History

File History is writing files and versions of files to an external drive into a File History folder OK.

The problem is that if I access settings , backup file history more options, restore files from the current backup there is a window/folder for each day ( back up set for daily) but the indication is the folder is empty, even though the files are being written
to the external File History folder. I tried unselecting File History and deleting the external drive file history folder and restarting file history which again generated a File History folder on the external drive and writing files to the drive, but again
unable to view the daily file version loads by selecting restore files from the current backup. Any ideas?

 

File History does not backup automatically

I would suggest you to go through the below steps:

• 
  Press Windows key+I.
  
• 
  Click on Update and security.
  
• 
  On the left pane, click on backup and select on under automatically back up my files.
  
• 
  Click on more option under on button.
  
• 
  Select every hour (default) under back up my files.
  
• 
  Select forever (default) under keep my files.
