Windows 10: DISM Offline mode - Install Feature package/source/Image - Server 2016

Disclaimer: Win10 sucks.

My question:
Where do I get DISM packages to install server 2016 features offline?

I need the Source/Package/Image for a specific feature in Server 2016. I can't figure out where to obtain this data.

Seems to me it might be the Server 2016 ISO?

Server 2016: KB4512495 will not install, DISM will not repair, SFC will not repair.

Hi, I'm having some problems with a Windows Server 2016 cumulative update: KB4512495.

Windows Server 2016, v1607, build 14393.3144

The KB fails repeatedly under Windows Update.

I downloaded the update from the Windows catalog and deployed by hand, still failed.

Event Viewer -> WindowsUpdateClient -> Operational log: lots of information messages about downloading updates, but no recorded warnings or errors.

commands tried to rectify:

DISM /online /cleanup-image /CheckHealth

result: "The Component Store is repairable"

DISM /online /cleanup-image /ScanHealth

result: "The Component Store is repairable

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

result: error 0x800f081f: The source files could not be found

Using the original ISO from which windows was installed, ISO mounted as F:, to act as a repair source.

DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth /Source:F:\sources\install.wim /limitaccess

result: error 0x800f081f: The source files could not be found

Verify that the ISO I'm using is the correct one for this build of Windows Server:

DISM /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:F:\sources\install.wim /index:1result: Name: Windows Server 2016 Standard, Version: 10.0.14393, ServicePack Build: 0,
ServicePack Level: 0

I'd be really grateful for "next steps" advice on this constantly-failing update.

I am aware that I do not know the Service Pack level of this server. Should I try applying the latest service pack (SP2), and also obtaining an ISO of the same service-pack level to retry DISM repair?

Source Parameter on DISM does not seem to work correctly

I tried to follow the instructions here

System file check (SFC) Scan and Repair System Files & DISM to fix things SFC cannot



for DISM as SFC is showing unfixable errors. DISM says I need a source. Downloaded a fresh ISO from the link specified in the article. Mounted it and ran DISM. Still getting ‘The source files cannot be found’.



I can indeed inspect the contents of the mounted ISO, so I know that is working. I did notice that the ISO does not have a file or folder (visible at least) called ‘Install.wim:1’ under Sources, but not sure if that means
anything (thought I read somewhere the :1 means some type f hidden file or something).



Here is my command line:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:E:\Sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

Source to use for DISM on Windows 10

This is not completely true. The suggestion is to download the Techbench version and use DISM to apply to install.wim directly. However, you can also use the version download from MCT except it will involve an extra step as follows:

1. Use the latest version of 7-Zip to extract the content of install.esd. For example: to a folder xxx on the desktop
2. From Admin command prompt:
   Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\xxx\windows /LimitAccess

See screen shot, the contents of install.wim and install.esd are exactly the same.
