I believe I have stumbled upon some odd bug. Running windows 10 build 1909. I have a folder full of family photos, I went to copy them on to my backup and noticed the file sizes were huge. The whole folder is apparently 68tb and checking size on TreeSize shows the same. The allocated size for the whole folder is 16.1 GB which is much more reasonable. I cannot transfer or even open images as they are too big. Each image shows a total size of 19.6 GB each, where as allocated size is much smaller, into kb in some cases. All folders and files show the 2 blue arrows and have the compression box ticked in settings if this helps.

Is this a known bug? Any fixes? 3000+ photos of the kids to lose is devastating, and the original source is long sold. These were transferred from an iPhone if that makes a difference.

I have tried moving, compressing, changing names, deleting all files with names above 255 characters, accessing in safe mode but nothing seems to work. Next stage is reseting as I cannot roll back from last sets of updates but thought I'd try and post for some help first!

    :)

Files sizes for photos and videos showing as much larger than actual. Can't open/transfer.

A couple of months ago I transferred some photos and videos from my phone to my desktop computer.

All was well at the time - fast forward to today, I attempted to open some of the photos in the folder, and all I get is a blank screen - something 'trying' to open.

I did as much investigating as I could with my limited abilities, only to find that windows is WAY exaggerating the file size ...

15.8 GB on disk looks about right - the 32.6TB is clearly not. My computer is only 1TB.

I ran a disk clean up, scan of the folder, updated windows, tried to back these up and restore - but it won't let me back up 32TB as it's "too large". Oof.

Somehow all of the photos now read as the same, exaggerates file size ....

I've been scouring forums all day, but having no luck. This folder contains all of my photos and videos from Feb 2019 to July 2019 - so I'm keen to find a solution.

Thanks in advance for any advice/tips!

Photos and videos from phone transfer not opening

    Hey,

I'm pretty certain I've screwed up here but hoping someone can help!

I transferred across all of my photos and videos from my phone a week ago to save up some storage space (long flight, netflix/prime, you get me), or so I thought I did. Only returning to them now does it seem like only a small percentage actually copied across.

Exhibit 1: The folder my photos are in, the last few showing as working files, the remainder (about 80-90% now showing thumbnails and not opening. The size is 10tb (I certainly don't have a 10tb phone...) but the on file size is much smaller.

Exhibit 2: All of the non working files have a 'on file disk' size of 4kb, even the videos, but with a size each of 7.35gb.

I'm guessing they're gone for good but since Windows can see there's supposed to be more data (i.e the big files sizes) I'm hoping there's some magic way to restore them.

    Much appreciation in advance!

    Cheers
