New Machine, New HDD with OEM OS, new 250GB SSD

I have a new Dell in a box with the OEM OS Win 10 home on a HDD. I have a clean, new 250 GB SSD from a previous machine

Before I start it up, I would like to install the OS to the 250GB SSD . Would I be better off to start up from the HDD and then migrate to the SSD, or ...?

    :)

  2. Migration OS to a new SSD

I have a 1 TB HDD whit Win 10 home. Yesterday i bought a new 500 Gb SSD and I would know how i can migrate only mine OS and not all my file. Is it possible? how i can do it? A friend told me i can install windows 10 from the Microsoft site for free, and
put my product key of the os of the old hdd in this new ssd. Is it true? Because i can't find this.

OEM version of OS moved to another machine

If you are wanting to avoid reinstalling Windows, you can install your Windows HDD\SSD, or clone your Win10 to the

HDD\SSD on the new machine, but as Dayarys mentioned, will need to buy a new license to reactivate.

You will also need to uninstall all the drivers used by the old machine and reinstall new drivers for the new machine.

Moving OS to new SSD but keep Programs on HDD

    Hello,

Is there any way to move/clone the OS to a new SSD while keeping the programs on the HDD (and being able to still keep the previous location association with shortcuts) (example: Shortcut on desktop: Location: (HDD) C:\Users\Sam\Desktop

    Name: Steam

    Target: C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steam.exe

--> Moved to SSD: Location (SSD, as boot drive): D:\Users\Sam\Desktop

    Name: Steam

Target: C:\Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steam.exe <--- Target stays the same)

    Is this possible?
