Windows 10 File Explorer doesn't appear as an option to unzip files

File Explorer doesn't appear as an option to unzip files. I checked the default app settings and all that appears is a prompt to go to the windows play store to download an app for unzipping files. I reset all the default app settings to see if it was hiding somewhere but it never appeared. Ran a system file check through the elevated command prompt with the command: sfc /scannow. It did not find any violations. I also ran the DISM command:dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. I got the all clear, with a message saying that there was no corruption to be found. But I still can't extract zip files, and file explorer continues to be nonexistent as an option. What else can I do to make file explorer exist and work?

If it helps I tried following Smittychat's instructions in this link:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ppear-in/941924a8-1f1f-40ad-aead-bddd53def047

I did step 2 and ran the power shell command. I ended up with this red text:

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. unzip files in windows 10

I see multiple questions about unzipping files in windows 10 with the same exact response about opening the folder via 'windows icon +E' which I can use to open a folder but I get no option for unzipping other than I need to download Winzip. Is this functionality
not included in windows 10 as it has been previously? Please don't just post the same copy and paste response that didn't work for quite a few people based on comments from your site.
The steps below DO NOT WORK for windows 10. I've been using previous versions of windows for years and while this used to work it doesn't in your new version.

    • Locate the zipped folder that you want to unzip (extract) files or folders from.
    • Do one of the following:
      • To unzip a single file or folder, open the zipped folder, then drag the file or folder from the zipped folder to a new location.
      • To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.
