Windows 10: Notifications mute other sound

Hello,

I'm faced with the following conundrum.
I will usually have youtube documentaries etc or an audiobook running in the background.
Then, one of my few friends will send me a message via Facebook Messenger, which I receive via theMessenger app for Win 10. So far, so good.

Every time I receive a message, I get a notification involving a gentle "ping" sound.
And here is the conundrum: to play me that ping, all other sounds are muted for one or two seconds. When the sound in question is that of someone describing something I'd really rather hear. :

So far, I have only been able to find instructions for turning off notifications in general, or specifically for Messenger. But I don't want that.
I'm mostly blind, and the little notification box above the date and time is outside what field of vision I have without turning my head.

As you can imagine, I want that gentle "ping". What I don't want is thataudio is muted, but not paused.
I'm quite sure I could distinguish the notification from whatever other audio is running at the same moment.

So, how can I go about that? Making the ping ping while all other audio just keeps running unmolested?

OS is presently Windows 10, Version 1909, Build 18363.657

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

Open Settings – select System – Notifications & Actions – scroll down to Show Notifications from these apps – select Realtek HD Audio Manager (click app do not toggle off on) – Turn toggle off “Play sound when a notification arrives”

1. What is the make and model number of your computer?
   
2. Have you made any changes on your computer?
   

However, I suggest you to follow the below mentioned step:

1. Go to “Control panel”.
   
2. Select ‘Sound’.
   
3. Under sounds tab select ‘Program event’.
   
4. Under program event, select ‘Notification’.
   
5. Make sure you select ‘Notification’ sound for startup application and system notification.
