Windows 10: Windows 10 Freezes and in Repair Mode the Mouse & Keyboard Stop Working

After a power failure when I repower my computer I go through the usual BIOS checks just fine, but once I get the screen saying that automatic repair has started I go to a screen which asks for keyboard layout. I'm frozen there since both my mouse and keyboard are not able to interact with the CPU. My keyboard works fine if I go into BIOS settings, but once the computer moves into automatic repair the keyboard and mouse are disabled. I cannot type anything or use the mouse at all. It’s as if they are no longer connected to the computer. Please help!

I have an old Dell Studio that is running windows 10 ---

Ir has Windows 10 and SSD installed - to me it does what it needs to do but this darn mouse and keyboard stuff stopping working with no rhyme or reason is making me very frustrated.

Keyboard and Mouse are wired - NOT WIRELESS

• I cannot easily unplug and plug in the mouse/keyboard to get it going again... they are still lit up but they are dead basically and I have to do a hard reset.
  
• USB selective suspend is disabled.
• I checked the drivers for the keyboard and mouse and they are updated.
• I checked to see if PC has KB4074588 and it does not.

I am not sure what else to do.... I can go days without the issue and then days where anytime I step away from the PC it stops working.

I can say when it is working it just does not just stop ... only when I walk away and the machine is idle or the screen is locked.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Acer all-in-1 PC USB ports stopped working so no keyboard or mouse!

Not sure if this is the correct place for this to post?

My neighbour came to me on Thursday evening (22/8/2019) to say his optical mouse had stopped working on his Acer all-in-1 PC (I look after his PC and in exchange he cuts my grass!).

Yesterday evening (23/8/2019) I went and looked at his PC. When the PC is booting up the USB keyboard and mouse work fine but as soon as Windows begins they stop working!

Rebooted and went into the Acer Repair screen and uninstalled the Quality Updates. Both keyboard and mouse still didn't work!

Again in the Repair screen I rolled back the PC to the last (and only) restore point of 22/8/2019 13:48. This took some time but both keyboard and mouse still didn't work!

Then I booted the PC in safe mode but but both keyboard and mouse not working! Safe mode reports Build 18362.19h1 - release 190318-1202.

Any suggestions what I can try next or is it a repair install of the PC keeping my neighbour's files?
