    Latest telephone ransom scam?

I had a call today from a lady purporting to be from the Microsoft Technical Dept. She said my computer had some problems

which is true, because I have been trying to fix the boot failure problem for 2 days now. and she can help by referring me to one of her technical staff.

What really puzzles me is this, how did she know I had a problem ,cos I had never contacted Microsoft at all?

Anyway, the "technical bloke" said he can fixed it for a one time sum of $350. which I refused of of course.!

$350 is about 60% of a brand new laptop, who is he kidding.

So watch out folks, this ccould be the latest scam.

    Cheers.

    :)

    startup password ransom

    That's very good.
It just makes me wonder, if these scammers still somehow may have access to your system....if it were my computer, I'd be clean installing just to be sure.
