Windows 10: Extend Display to second and third monitors

Hi,


I have always been able to extend my display but now it seems I cannot. Have tried all the usual, swapping a new screen, trying to connect with new cable, using a different location none of which works. Other people can plug into my screens and extend their displays but I cannot plug into theirs and do the same. The problem then seems to lie with my laptop however there is no obvious setting or change that I can make that does anything, am now baffled, ideas please?

Cannot extend display to second monitor


I am using windows 10 pro on my Powerspec desktop PC. I have one HP monitor and one AOC monitor. I had three monitors (one HP and 2 AOC monitors) working fine using extended display. After removing one monitor (now have 2), the extended display does not work any more. I can use "Duplicate these displays", "Show only on 1" or "Show only on 2", all work fine, except "Extend these displays". When I select Extended, the second screen shows up with task bar, but I cannot move any window onto the second screen. The mouse does not move over either. I tried update the display driver, rebooting computer, reconnect the cable, nothing works! What's wrong?

In order to for your Windows 10 to show the native display for the second monitor, you may revert all screen settings back to default, and see if this resolves the issue. If it doesn't, you may try these steps:

• Press Windows key + P.
• If your monitor settings is on Duplicate, try choosing
  Extend.
• If your monitor settings is on Extend try choosing the
  Duplicate.
• Check the resolution if both monitors are showing the same resolution value.

Unable to extend monitor display

thanks again for your reply.

I checked the screen resolution settings through windows and then through the Nvidia graphics cards.

Windows detected both monitors but Nvidia settings didn't.

I downloaded and installed the Nvidia drivers again and it's working fine. Simple solution, not sure why I had to install the drivers again? But thanks for your help, your suggestion to check if the monitors were being detected prompted me that it had to
be a graphics card issue.
