  1. New computer will not restart after installing new win 10 updates

A few days ago I bought a new computer, set it up and turned it on. In order to continue it asked me for my Microsoft account code number. Now my other computer that was up to date with win 10 I have a pin number that I use. So I had to create a account using a code number. After logging in with the code and getting to the main screen that shows the different icons already loaded in the system, I went to "settings" to check for "windows updates" which I had. I installed them. Once they were installed I was asked to "restart the computer which I did.

When the computer restarted, the only thing that showed on my monitor was the HP logo on the screen not even the small rotating circle showed on the bottom of the screen or the message "DO NOT TURN OFF COMPUTER,LOADING SOFTWARE". I let the computer sit for about ten minutes but no change. Now I have had to disconnect the new computer and setup my old computer.

I don`t know if the win 10 that had been loaded onto the new computer is the issue or not or that the win 10 updates are, but I have no way to restart the computer and use win 10 and this computer did not come with a win 10 disc to reinstall windows. This is the first time I have ever had this issue

    :)

New Win 10 install-computer locks up

I recently took an Asus K73E laptop and installed a new clean hard drive and a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro. With no other software installed, and nothing running, if I leave the computer on and idle, after a while it will lock up and I have to perform a hard power off and on to restart. Most of what I've read suggests that the problem is BIOS or drivers. My last update was KB4093110 on April 12, 2018.

Any suggestions on troubleshooting this? Prior to installing Win 10 it did not lock up the way it is now, so I believe is it software/firmware issue. I did install more RAM during this process, but I've tested the memory and it checked out.

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond New computer will not restart after installing new win 10 updates :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.

New computer will not restart after installing new win 10 updates

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
