Windows 10: Files deleted from Windows.old folder after upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10!

I recently decided to make the change from Windows 7 to Windows 10, I have never liked the newer versions of Windows, but as they took it out of service i thought it was time to make the switch, The real reason why I switched quickly, is because it said that I can keep ALL of my files etc..


Once Windows 10 had completed downloading & Installing, I was happy to see that what appeared to be all of my files where still intact. But after further Investigation, I decided to look in my Windows.old folder, only to see that quite a lot of my files are missing Videos & Pictures. After being unsuccessful to recover them on my own, I decided to call Microsoft Support, who then redirected me to Windows support, But to no avail.


This is a personal computer that no one can get access to apart from myself, I have checked and I am not on a temporary user, they are not in my recycling bin and I did not have Storage Sense switched on. I find it very odd that it would delete these files, I have four Windows.old folders and one of my other WIndows.old folders even has videos of the same format in it, Starting to get the feeling these files are unable to be recovered.

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 8 - delete windows folders in another drive

I have the problem (from Windows 8) to delete the folders windows and programs on a secondary disk on which it was 7 .... know how to get full control to delete those folders?
