  1. Input device microphone not functioning correctly

I have a Logitech Webcam C270, to be used as a microphone.

When I open the "Open Sound Settings", it shows briefly for a few secs "No Input Devices", then it shows "Logitech Webcam 270" , under Choose Your Input Device in Inputs.

Also the webcam does not receive mic input for the 1st time, but works for the 2nd time thereafter. For example, if I were to record an voiceclip on whatsapp, the 1st try would give silent noise. Also, the mic icon on the taskbar will light up for 1 sec then dissappear. The 2nd try onwards can record my voice and the mic icon shows continuously throughout the duration of the voiceclip when the webcam mic is in use.

I tried to get around this problem by plugging in the 3.5mm external mic, and set this as a default device. Now, when I restart the computer and boot up, then it can record voiceclips and receive input right away, without 2nd tries. And the mic icon shows continuously while the mic is in active use recording voiceclip.

So, looks like there is either a bug in Windows 10? Because the Logitech Webcam C270 has no drivers or software or firmware to update? The only software Logitech provides is to preview and adjust the camera settings and brightness, etc.

    :)

Sennheiser GSP 350. Microphone stops working when I open any game

Wow, ok. I think I've fixed it by accident while fiddling around.

It appears to be the Realtek audio being the issue here. I don't use my onboard sound card as my headset is a USB headset only and my speakers are plugged into an ASUS sound card.

    Step by step fix:
    • I went into recording devices
    • I enabled STEREO MIX (Realtek High Definition Audio)
    • Then I set that Stereo Mix as the DEFAULT DEVICE (At this point it took over both input and output devices without my permission )
    • Then set my Sennheiser headset as default recording and playback devices in their respective windows even though they both still said they were the default devices when they weren't
Headset microphone is currently functioning while in game now. I'll update the thread if it goes again. Should I completely disable Realtek audio??? Or will windows just force it to work again?

  4. Input device microphone not functioning correctly

After Win10 Anniversary update the microphone stop working correctly

Since you have tried to uninstall and reinstall the driver, we highly suggest that you try to follow the steps provided below to check and fix the microphone settings in Windows 10:

    • Right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom-right part of the screen.
    • Click on Recording Devices.
    • A list of Recording Devices will appear. Try speaking into your microphone, and see if there is any green bars rising next to one another while you talk.
    • If you don't see any green bars, skip to step 5. If you do see green bars when you talk into the microphone, but still doesn't work in some program, then that means that the microphone is correctly configured in Windows, but the program is listening to
the wrong recording device. Try changing your program's settings.
    • Check if you can recognize which one of the devices in the list is your microphone. If you found it, click on it to highlight it, and then click
      Set Default.
    • Check again if you see green bars rising when you talk into the microphone. If you do, your microphone is now correctly setup. If not, continue to next step.
    • Double-click on the device that represents your microphone. The Microphone Properties window will appear. Click the
      Levels tab.
    • In the levels tab, drag the slider all the way to the right, until the number on the right says
      100.
    • Click OK.
    • Now check again if you see green bars rising when you talk into the microphone, if you do, your mic is now properly configured.
    • If you still don't see any bars, and you're not 100% sure which one of the devices is the relevant one, try following steps 5-10 for every device on the list.
    • If you still don't see any green bars, left-click inside the Recording tab and make sure that
Show Disabled Devices has a tick next to it. If it doesn't, click on it to tick it.
    • This might add extra devices to the list. Perform steps 5-10 on those devices too, until you see the green bars when talking into the mic.
    • That's it, check if it works. If it doesn't, please try uninstalling your drivers and then letting Windows automatically reinstall them. This has helped many users.

Let us know how it goes.

    Thank you.
