Windows 10: Access is denied while typing the command ren c:/windows/software distribution/software...

Hi community

I am having trouble with installing updates as I type the command mentioned in the subject I get access denied and when i try to delete software distribution folder it shows the file is in use in an another application

Pls help. I also cant do defer upgrades as I am running in windows 10 enterprise build 10240.

Access Denied on Open Commands

On trying to input command as recommended in error handling Windows Update-Error 0x80080005,

The command I input was "ren c:\\windows\system32\catroot2 catroot2.old " and I get an Access Denied Message.

How do I rectify this error?

Access Denied

At the Command Prompt I typed: Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak . I received the message: Access Denied. How do I get access to this command to correct a Windows 8.1 Update Error Code 80070002?

 

Win10 (upgraded from Win8) cannot access any fonts from laptop on third part software.

1. Which Software are you referring to?
   
2. What is the make and model of the computer?
   
3. Have you recently made any changes on the device?
   

You may try the below suggested steps to fix the issue.

Step 1: Need to give the user access to the font directory.

1. Open the Command Prompt as an Admin.
   
2. Type in “attrib –r –s c:\windows\fonts” and hit
   Enter.
   
3. Right click on the Fonts Folder and ‘Select Properties’.
   
4. Under Security tab > Click on Advanced options.
   
5. Click on Owner tab and click on
   Edit Button.
   
6. Change the Current Owner to Yourself.
   
7. Check the “Replace owner on sub containers and objects” box.
   
8. Click on OK.
   
9. Close the Window completely to notice the changes you have made and check the status of the issue.
   

Step 2: You may refer the article
"Access Denied" or other errors when you access or work with files
and folders in Windows for more information. (Applies to Windows 10 as well)
