  1. Windows 10 Photos App not seeing the original folder, only the One drive camera roll folder

You might know that when viewing the photos using Photos App, through the "collection" or the "folders" view, there is a possibility to locate the original location of the photo , if the photos are already organized on the PC. When a photo exist in a specific folder, by clicking the right click on a photo it gives the option to open it in "file explorer" it it will open that specific folder where that photo was saved. In fact this option is similar to the option offered by Windows file explorer i.e while searching for a photo ,after seeing it in the search results, by using the option on the right click menu "open in folder location", the found photo will be viewed in that specific folder.

This has been said, my question is the following, many of my photos ,even that they are already organized in specific folders, while viewed by Photos app, and when using the option to open it in "file explorer" i am being directed to the "camera roll" folder created by One drive instead of being directed to their original folder location on the PC. why is that? This is not happening to all the photos, I need to "link it" in a way to its original folder location to make use of the organization that i made.

Thank you very much for your time

    :)

one drive camera roll folder has dissappeared on my PC

My one drive camera roll folder has dissappeared on my PC, one drive folder or as a folder on the one Drive app.

I can not find my photos from my camera roll offline anywhere.

So i can not use or access my photos on my camera roll on my PC.

When I open the one drive app on my phone or PC my offline photos are saved under the folder files.

But my camera roll is not saved under the folder files but under the folder photos.

This has not been my choice but this was so at the start.

On my pc when I right click on the white cloud, settings, account, choose folder i can not find the folder camera roll anywhere!

So when i make a new photo with the camera on my phone this photo is stored in my camera roll on one drive, folder photos, camera roll.

And these photos are visible on my phone, one drive app.

But these photos are not visible on my PC, one drive folder or one drive app on my PC.

These photos are only visible on my pc when i go to onedrive.live, folder photos, camera roll.

The second problem is when i go to onedrive.live, folder photos, folder camera roll I can see my photos but these photos can not be moved anywhere (an other folder or offline)!

These photos i want to move to the folder files because this folder i can see offline and this is the folder with my personal selected and sorted photos.

I hope i explained it correctly (english is not my native language)

    Help!

    Renate

Camera Roll folder. Pictures folder, OneDrive folder and Photo app

At the moment I am rather confused. Can someone please explain what each of the items in the title are, and how they are interconnected. This is my current understanding - is any or all accurate?

PICTURES FOLDER is where I store any images I have taken with a camera, or scanned for example.

ONEDRIVE FOLDER is the folder that I can put files or folders so they can be automatically uploaded to the cloud storage called OneDrive. I can turn synching of a folder on or off

PHOTOS is an app that can be used to edit photo images. It will also search your computer for images and automatically make "albums" of the photos it finds.

But what is Camera Roll folder. What is it used for? \how is it different to my Pictures folder? Why is their pictures in the Camera Roll folder when I have only just upgraded from windows 8 to windows 10. I don't recall ever seeing CameraRoll folder on
    windows 8.

    Thanks

Camera Roll folder. Pictures folder, OneDrive folder and Photo app

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I understand that you would like to know the purpose of camera roll folder in Windows 10.

The collection of photos and videos you have taken is called your camera roll. Photos and videos captured using the Camera app with your PC/device's built-in camera or webcam are saved to the Camera Roll folder in your Pictures library by default. If you
like, you can also save any image or video file into your Camera Roll folder as well.

Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.
