Windows 10: Can't remeber my old laptops password or details to the microsoft account that was linked...

I have a older (2014/2015ish) HP laptop. A few years ago the display broke and I ended up getting a desktop. Today I finally decided to get my files off that pc by connecting it to my monitor via hdmi. Unfortunately I do not remember my password and the only info I remeber of the Outlook account I had connected to it is the email address. I also remember the gmail account I had linked to the outlook account because I still use it. Does anyone know how I can regain access preferably without wiping the disk as I still have my info and vacation photos stored on it. I suppose this is a lesson in making backups and keeping track of passwords. One question I have is using Linux that runs from a USB stick a way to access the files or am I stupid?

To help you with your concern in deleting your Microsoft account from a device, we'd like to ask a few questions:

• Have you tried deleting your Microsoft account directly from the old laptop?
• How did you go about removing the account from the old laptop?

Changed my Microsoft account password but windows login keeps accepting old password

Hi,

I have a Microsoft account (to be specific, it's a Passport account. I created it with a gmail account) and I recently changed my password and activated two-step verification with Microsoft Authenticator app.

The new password works perfectly in any web page, but doesn´t work when I try to login in my notebook. Windows login keeps accepting old password, and doesn´t accept the new one.

Am I doing something wrong or this is some kind of bug?

Since, you have forgotten the user account password we will not able to help you related password scenarios due to security purpose. The best what I can suggest you is create a new user account and transfer all user profile data’s to the new user account.
Once you transfer all the data’s to new user account you can convert the user account to Microsoft account and delete the old user account (If you want).
You can also follow the below steps to transfer all your data’s to the new user account.

• 
  Open file explorer and double click on
  OS (C.
  
• Go to Users and try transferring all the data’s/file to the new user account.
