Windows 10: download of 3/28/20 Lost all files

Opened my computer this am & was greeted with a blue window saying Welcome to Windows and wanting to set up. All my files, documents, downloads, pictures are gone. Also there is no system recovery dates listed. I uninstalled KB4537572 three times before it actually uninstalled. Each time on the restart my original screen comes up but then changes to the new blue screen Welcome to Windows. Any and all help would be appreciated to get my old version and files back.

Will downloading 20 files at once, at a combined speed of 200-400kbps, damage the hard drive in the long run ?

Files are lost after upgrading to Windows 10. It’s been more than 28 days since upgrade.

My husband upgraded to windows 10 more than a month ago. Lost files and asked me to help. It's over 28 days so the windows.old file is gone (or at least I can't find it). I read that sometimes files end up there but it gets deleted after 28 days. I've
tried everything else suggested on the windows troubleshooting - files lost section. Does this mean his files were probably in there but now gone forever? Or is there something else I could try to find them again? No, he did not have a back up.
