Windows 10: trouble installing 2nd monitor

I am having trouble installing 2nd monitor. As soon as i connect to computer, all open windows in the main screen are minimized and frozen, so i cant go to dsiplay settings

I suggest you to change the settings to Extended Monitor and check if it helps.

Please follow below steps:

• Right Click any ware of the Desktop, and launch Personalization.
• Go to dual monitor settings under personalization, and change it Extended Monitor.

2nd screen malfunction on dual monitor set up.

I used the trouble shoot option because that seemed to be an easy way to to detect if there were any driver issues. The trouble shooting detected a driver issue which I then rebooted to install. That was not the problem. All those articles on how to
detect a monitor I do not believe apply to my situation because my monitors work fine. The problem starts when the computer is idle for a period of time that's when the 2nd one goes black. It will not recognize the 2nd monitor when I start the computer from
off position, but it will work if I just restart it. Tks for the suggestions.

 

2nd Monitor

I have been having trouble with my 2nd monitor but now I changed a setting trying to get it to work and something happened but now I can't access the dual settings to fix what I did because it turns my second monitor off
