Windows 10: adding a google account to my mail

I want to add a new google account to my email settings. It wont let me citing error 0x8007042b

:)

 

Google account (mail / calendar) not syncing in Windows 10

First confirm if you have two step authentication in you Google account.
If YES follow these steps:

To have the Windows Mail app to work you have to generate a password for the Windows Mail app in your Google account at Account settings: Your browser is not supported.
Copy/paste this password into the password field of your Gmail account in the Mail app Settings/Accounts/Gmail
This needs to be done only once.

Also check in Windows 10 Settings/Privacy if you have in Contacts AND Calender the Mail and Agenda allowed access ON
If both are OFF the Mail app won't sync without throwing any error!!
Just one off the many bugs in Mail app!

 

Google Email Account is not adding

From the description of the issue, I understand that you are unable to add a google account in your Windows 10 Mail App.

Please follow the below suggested methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Remove and reinstall the Mail App

• 
  Press Windows key and type Powershell
  in search, right click on it and Open as administrator .
  
• 
  Type the following command in Powershell and hit enter:
  

get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

• 
  Download the Mail App from the Windows Store.

Method 2:

I would suggest you to change the Microsoft account to local account and then again switch to Microsoft Account and check with the issue.

How to switch to a local account-

a. Press “Windows + I” keys to open settings.

b. Select
Change PC settings.

c. Select
Users.

d. On the right side, it will show your current account with an option "Switch to a local account”.

e. Select “switch to a local account” and follow the steps to switch your Microsoft account into a local account.

Once this is done your Microsoft account is converted or switched to a Local account. Follow the same steps to switch from a Local account to a Microsoft account using the correct credentials and check if this
helps.

Google Email Account is not adding

Are you able to add other email account to mail app apart from Gmail account?

To solve the problem, you have to make sure that your Google account is connected to your Windows 10 computer. Here’s how to do that:

• Go to the Security section of your Google account (You can access it from the following link:
  
  https://myaccount.google.com/intro/security
• Under Connected apps and sites, go to Apps connected to your account
• Make sure that Windows is on the list

After you make sure that your Google account is connected with your computer, you need to create the new IMAP account, and hopefully, everything will work fine. But, before you create a new IMAP account in your Mail app, you need to enable IMAP
usage in your Google account. Here’s what you need to do:

• Sign in to Gmail
• Click the gear in the top right
• Select Settings
• Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP
• Select Enable IMAP
• Click Save Changes

After you enabled IMAP usage in your Google account, you can create the new IMAP account in your Mail app, and everything should work fine. Just follow these steps to create the new IMAP account:

• Open the Mail app
• Go to Settings (Cog icon), Accounts, Add Account, Advanced Setup, and then to Internet Email
• Fill in the details like this:

• Account Name: {any string like “My Gmail”}
• Your Name: {your name like “Fred Bloggs”}
• Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com:993
• Account Type: IMAP4
• User name: {your gmail address}
• Password: {the one time password you just generated, otherwise just your gmail password}
• Outgoing SMTP email server: smtp.gmail.com:465
• All checkboxes checked

Now try to connect to your Google account with the new Account and check.
