Windows 10: ASUS UX310uak RAM Upgrade

Hi,


My laptop is an ASUS UX310uak. I'm looking to upgrade the RAM so I can do some basic video processing more smoothly. It currently has 8GB ram as standard and an i5 7th gen processor. What I dont understand is whether the 8GB currently installed is internal and I can buy another 8GB RAM to 'add on' or whether I need to buy a 16GB unit to replace the current 8GB. On the performance tab in the task manager it says that 1 of 4 slots are currently used. Any help much appreciated.

Video card or RAM need upgrading?

Memtest: no errors after 10 hrs.
I'm going to perform the Primetest, later on. Get back to you on that.
I'm going to take it step by step, guys. I need to find the problem with this current computer. I might have to upgrade some components, so that it is still runnable. As for the new one, yes....i will build on it later. I need to find something decent 'gaming experience', all suggestions appreciated. THanks.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

 

To RAM or not to RAM...

Hey genesis what hardware have you bought, you might be able to save on the ram and step up the rest of the hardware a little...

Or you could go out on the town as suggested... *Big Grin
