    Camera working for few seconds and then freeze


    My laptop: Acer Predator Helios 300

    The Problem: The camera works, for a few seconds then the image freezes.

    In every camera\video app I've tried, the problem repeats: Win Camera, Zoom & Skype.


    What I've tried:

    1. Installing the latest windows updates.
    2. Uninstalling and reinstalling the camera driver from Device-Manager.
    3. Adding dword 32-bit value "EnableFrameServerMode" with 0 value to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Media Foundation\Platform
    4. Rechecking privacy camera setting at windows settingsIt's all set to ON.
    5. Searching for a webcam driver at Acer's website. There is no driver available for download.

    Still, none of those fixes helped.

    So? what's next?

    Camera App freezes after a few seconds

    Thank you for providing the information. We've already tried multiple troubleshooting steps and the same issue still persists. In this case, let's try to uninstall and re-install the Camera app.

    To uninstall Camera app follow the below steps:

    • Type Windows in the search box and right-click on
      Windows PowerShell.
    • Select Run as administrator.
    • Type get-appxpackage *Microsoft.WindowsCamera* | remove-appxpackage on the
      PowerShell and hit Enter.

    You can re-install the Windows Camera app from Windows Store.

    If the issue still persist, we suggest the following solutions:

    • Contact the manufacturer of your Windows-based computer.
    • Reset your PC.

    If you have the camera connected to the computer, I would suggest that you disconnect the camera and then try to open the Camera app.



    If the camera app opens, follow the steps below:

    • Press “Windows key + C” from your keyboard to open “Charms bar”.
    • Select “Settings” option.
    • Select “Permissions” option.
    • Turn on “Allow this app to access your: Webcam and Microphone” option.
    • Lose the app by pressing “Alt key + F4” from your keyboard.
    • Reopen the Camera app.
    • Connect your camera and then check how this app works.

    Camera working for few seconds and then freeze

    Windows 10 Camera freeze every few second or blackout

    I have tried reset camera, remove from device manager, update drivers, add registry etc. still the cam freeze. I have tested with new harddisk with OS, the camera is working fine without freeze. Confirm is not hardware issue.

    Anyone got any suggestion?
