Windows 10: Windows 10 Sound

Hi,

I am looking for support/guidance on a problem that I've recently encountered.

I am trying to record using 'Audacity' a 4 channel music, up-mix, from stereo into 4ch surround.

The signal is already mixed in the front and rear speakers, via an 'Involve Surround Master V2', which automatically decodes stereo input into different surround capabilities.

The signal is then transferred via 4 RCA cables into a 4x4 Behringer UMC404HD Audio Interface, and then via USB to the PC and then to Audacity.


My problem is: I cannot get Audacity to record the 4 separate, incoming surround signals.

I have tried all the parameters in the Windows sound facility and I am using the ASIO function, supplied by Behringer, in their driver.


It will record in Stereo or 4 mono channels.


Is it true that Windows 10 cannot provide a facility for external Audio interfaces to record in anything more than stereo?


I have a friend who uses a MacBook and he has no problem in achieving what I cannot.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

I suggest you to follow the steps below to set sounds:

• Right click on the Sound icon from the System Tray and click on Sounds.
• Browse for the sound and click on apply and Ok.
