Windows 10: broken email links

Discus and support broken email links in Windows 10 Customization to solve the problem; the links in my email show pop-up of link but will not link.     Settings links broken


    Looks like some of the links in Windows Settings are broken (I think they only broke after the Anniversary Update). If anyone knows how to fix this it would be most welcome.

    • In Settings>System>About, clicking "Device Manager" at the bottom of the page results in an error:

    • Every link to Device Manager in Settings gives the same error
    • System>Display>Advanced Display Settings>Color Management, Color Calibration, ClearType text, and Display adapter properties give an error
    • Devices>Mouse and Touchpad>Additional mouse options: error again
    • Network & Internet>Change adapter options: error
    • Probably many more links are broken, I didn't bother to check.
    Seriously, WTF Microsoft. And I'm usually the one who never has any problems with Windows, so this must be serious.

    All Gmail links fail

    Thanks to Caledon Ken...your suggestion had no effect.

    Thanks to bro67...Interestingly enough the Gmail link to this forum reply actually worked, as did your link to "How to Fix....." I tried steps 1 and 2 without success. Step 3 gave me the following screen, which didn't look like the article described. At any rate, the probem is unchanged...screenshot follows.

    Broken links in Microsoft email and GWX app

    Thanks Andre for a quick reply. I am sorry, but I wasn't as clear as I thought I was.

    I am not having a problem getting the GWX app installed. It appears to be operating just fine (I can check that my pc meets system requirements without problems - it does, I can view my confirmation for the upgrade).

    The only thing I have a problem with is a broken link from within the GWX app, and many broken links from within a Microsoft email (I don't know is these are connected in any way).

    I get the same problem on another 64 bit Win 8.1 machine, though not on two older Win 7 machines (a 64 bit laptop and a 32 bit desktop).

    If you can suggest what I can do to get these links working.
