Windows 10: Optical Blu Ray Drive does not read or access any disc inserted in Win 10

I've been having this issue for a while. I have a Blu Ray drive on my PC that Windows 10 does not want to access the disc inserted at all. I can't explore the disc or play the disc. The drive shows up in device manager as installed as well as in windows explorer under this PC. When i double click the BD-ROM drive, it ejects the drive saying insert disc. It does this even when there is a disc in there. It doesn't matter if it is a CD audio disc, DVD disc, or Blu Ray disc. This started happening when I upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 but it wasn't immediate. I swapped the disc drive out for an older DVD-rom drive and that worked for a while but then experienced the same issue. when I swapped back to the Blu-ray drive it was working again but then went back to the same problem. It's not a hardware issue since the drive works in other computers and even when I swapped the drive out. with both drives when I put the disc in neither would spin up to scan the disc. I don't know what's wrong and it's really annoying that I can't even listen to an audio CD in my PC. This feels like a Win 10 problem. Disc drives just don't up and die then all of the sudden start working again like they were brand new.

i've followed everything I could find online with no success. I've uninstalled the device and reinstalled it. I've made suggested regedits and backed them up when that didn't work. I've set the autoplay feature off. Troubleshooting doesn't have anything for optical drives in it that I can see. Again, Windows seems to know it's a blu-ray drive and has a driver installed, but the moment I try to open the drive it ejects the tray telling me to insert the disc even though there was a disc in the drive.

Playing a Blu-Ray video disc?

I've been thinking of getting a Blu-Ray Optical drive and what I have seen is it would be best to get one that has the software with it for playing the Blu-Ray discs or burning to a Blu-Ray disc. I wouldn't need the movie creation part of the software as more interested in playing and data storage. Some of the available programs are not exactly cheap, running over $50 and considerably more.

Did you get any error message when trying to use Blu-ray disc? Have you tried running your PC on a safe mode? Furthermore, it would be best that you contact your manufacturer for any recommendation of Blu-ray drives. This is to make sure that the Blu-ray
drives will be compatible with your device.
