Permissions changed & Attempt at changing windows theme failed

Hi, I messed up big time. I'm currently typing this from a USB stick that has windows installed on it allowing me to run It when I go to the BIOS. I can't provide my actual windows version because this one has an outdated version of windows, but if you want the usb version it's 1909 (OS Build 18363.418). My actual OS I don't know, I do know it's one of the insiders builds.

So my mistake was first, I tried to install a custom theme for control panel, task manager, ect. The ones the official dark theme doesn't cover. So first I messed with some files in the Resources/Theme folder I think, I can't remember the directory, it was in C:/Windows/ though. They were called "aero" files and I moved an entire folder into the one before it and renamed the file type of one to "bak" and In order to that I had to get past TrustedInstaller, ok fine, so I did that eventually.

Now here comes the good part, I had the "brightest" idea and said to myself "Why not just make it so the entire OS is owned by my user account and not TrustedInstaller?" so I went to the C drive, did the stuff to change it, but it errored only a few seconds into changing it and said it couldn't be completed and stuff would go wrong if all the files aren't changed, tried it a few more times and eventually got scared and just backed out, big mistake. Then, I made a restore point, (wow good place to do it right?) and I installed UltraUXThemePatcher, then restarted. Now the actual OS, when it boots up just shows a black screen with the mouse you would see in safe mode, sometimes the screen glitches too. And booting into safe mode does the same thing too. So everything is completely messed up and I don't know what to do anymore. I completely messed up my pc because I couldn't suppress my hunger for those good looking themes. Please help, I looked online for what I could do to change permissions back to default blah blah blah, but it seems to be hard when you're on a USB drive.

Edit: Forgot to mention, for a moment I went into a blue screen loop (for two restarts I think), with the error code: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and went wrong was: klkbdflt.sys

    :)

  2. Win-10 themes keep changing

    Hi,

Thank you for providing the information.

    • Did you try the steps suggested by Suvarna Govinda above, what was the result?
As I understand the issue, Themes in Windows doesn't have the options to change on its own. Only the Wallpapers in the themes can change as selected ( Picture, Solid color and Slide Show ).

I would suggest you to make us understand that if the Wallpapers are changing in Theme which you have selected.

Below are the steps you can check if it helps.

    • Press Windows + I keys and select Personalization.
    • Select Theme and select the Default theme.
    • Select the Desktop Background below and select the Picture
      and save it and check.
Please post us back if the issue resolves. We are glad to help you.
