  1. Lost Permission to almost everything in the system.

    Hello,

First things first, I did mess something up ... I was really getting annoyed about svchosts internet usage, so I gave myself rights to edit and move the exe, BUT ONLY the exe. I then cut it out of the system32 folder and pasted it on my desktop. I continued to use my computer and everything worked fine, until someone in the house tried to use a toaster, which then sent the main fuse flying and cut off power in the entire house. Both PC's, my brother's and mine, were cut off from power while running. I went down and reset the fuse. After that my brothers windows 10 pc booted completely fine, mine didnt and was stuck on a black screen with very small loading dots spinning around. I guessed it must be the misplaced svchost.exe. So I plugged my main harddrive onto his computer to move back the svchost.exe where it belongs. Then I realized my stupidity ... Since I put it on my desktop, I need to go into my own user folder via his user interface, and my own user folder is the only one on the drive with read/write protection by default setting. So I gave his computer the rights to open my user folder with the "one click permission" window promted by his pc and successfully moved the svchost.exe back into the system32 folder. I then ended the permission for my brothers PC and plugged everything back together. My windows then booted but I could not login, as an error message was displayed that the account manager cant be started. I then went to troubleshooting with shift+restart and reset the PC to a state two weeks prior to this incident. After that I could login but I had no rights to everything on my desktop, I had to claim back everything manually the same way I did enter my user folder on my brothers PC, but with every folder on the desktop. My desktop background was gone and I couldnt change it back at all aswell as various options in the settings menu, also when clicking on the windows logo in the bottom left corner, nothing happens. Then over the course of half an hour, suddenly I couldnt access settings as the window was showing up and then dissapearing in half a second and then the entire desktop interface dissapeared and started flickering. I logged off, went into troubleshoot and launched command prompt. There I launched regedit and tried to import a backup I did months ago, but It failed accessing the backup as the progressbar has gone full and should display a success message. However something has gone through into my registry and stabilized my system. I could login again and the desktop was back. I tried creating another user account with powershell in adminrights mode and It worked, but when trying to log into that user account it displays the same profile manager error from the beginning and I cant switch back to my other account.Something like this happened with a notebook of mine aswell, where I transferred data to my current PC and afterwards, when remouting the Harddrive into the Notebook, everything went nuts and It broke down into nothingness where I couldnt access anything due to missing permissions. Now Im here, and this entire situation makes me feel physically uncomfortable and ill. I want it to be fixed soon, however I dont have the Internet connection to download the 5,7 GB Iso file from the microsoft Website. So there must be another way. Im running Windows 10 1809 Home and I need your help.

    :)

  2. Lost all Administrator permission

    Hello,

I have lost all my administrator permission. I have two profiles but both profiles are standard. I have tried every option that were listed on existing forums. Every option leads me to a pop-up screen stating I have no permission. Are there any other recommendations?

  3. No permissions

    Hi,

I would suggest you to right click on the user's folder for your profile and check if the permissions shows as "read only'. If this is the case, it might be causing the issue. In this case, I would suggest you to go to C:\User folder, right click on the
folder with your username and follow these steps:

    • Open the properties of the main user profile folder where the files are located (such as Documents, Pictures, etc).
    • Go to the Security tab and click Advanced.
    • Check the box at the bottom of this window. It is labeled "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" and then click Ok.
This does a one-time action that replaces the security on all the files/subfolders. It’s one-time, so you won’t find that box checked if you peek at it later. Try these steps and let us know the results for further assistance.

    System Permission required

    Hi Peter,

The message that you've encountered when deleting the USERS folder can be due to a permission set on it. To change the permission of the affected folder, follow these steps:

    • Right click the the parent folder.
    • Select Properties.
    • Select the Security tab.
    • Click Edit to change the permission.
    • Select the new owner, and then put a check mark in the Full
      control box.
    • Click Apply, then OK.
    • Once you're done, the folder can now be deleted.

Let us know should you need further assistance.
