  1. Microsoft AC Adapter Missing from Devices and unable to get back

I have a strange problem on Windows 10 Build 1803. I have MS Surface Book 2. My screen detach did not work and I was trying to fix the issue. Followed instructions from one of the community solution, and uninstalled the battery drivers both Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery. The battery icon from task bar went missing. The surface detach button on the key board started working fine. However, I am now unable to get the battery icon back on task bar. When I see the device manager, I cannot see the Microsoft AC Adapter device and it does not come back even after hard restarts or scan functions.

I can see Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery device but the status says - "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. Code 45. To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

Also, there is an error in Surface ACPI Notify Driver now. The status says - "This device cannot start. Code 10

    STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE"

Also the Surface DTX device is not working and status shows - This device cannot start. Code 10

    STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
Even after doing driver updates it says latest driver is already installed. Also, the disable/enable step does not work.

The screen detach button is working fine.

Can anyone suggest what should be the next course of action? It's really frustrating

    :)

    Reinstall Microsoft AC Adapter

My battery does charge despite having uninstalled the Microsoft AC Adapter. How do I plug in the AC Adapter because it seems that when I selected uninstall, it disappeared under Batteries in Device Manager. All that appears under Batteries now is Microsoft
ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery which is the one I disabled and then enabled. Where can I find the Microsoft AC Adapter to reinstall it again? I appreciate the help!

  4. Microsoft AC Adapter Missing from Devices and unable to get back

    AC Adapter Driver Missing

Recently I noticed I was getting the 'Plugged In' not charging message for my battery.

I followed all the steps, made sure it was plugged in correctly, checked the wall outlets, etc.

Then I noticed in my device manager that the AC adapter driver was missing entirely. I cant find a download, and the automatic scan and troubleshoot search turns up nothing. And I cant right click to update a driver that isnt there.

Im using a Wacom Companion, running windows 10. So I cant follow traditional steps, like taking out the battery. Its locked away in the tablet. The wacom drivers, from the wacom site, seem to only pertain to the drawing aspects - but Im open to trying anything
    out.

UPDATE: Another wrinkle - while shut down, the computer charges - and continues to charge while on until full. But after the battery fills, it begins to drain very slowly with the message 'plugged in'.
