  1. Changing Microsoft Account through Aliases

    Hey guys,

I've had the same Hotmail address for a while, and I use it as my Microsoft Account; to login to my Windows 10 laptop, for OneDrive photos and OneNote which is synced through OneDrive, and I've also purchased movies and TV shows on the Microsoft Store.

There have recently been attempts to login to my account, I receive a lot of spam through this email and I was thinking I would have to delete it.

However, is it possible for me to create an alias for my account, make it my primary address and then delete my old Hotmail address?

Would this mean that I could continue to login to my laptop, use OneDrive and OneNote and keep my purchased TV shows with a different email address that no one has? I.e. everything stays the same except the email address, which hopefully means I stop receiving spam and attempts to login to my account?

    Thank you!

    :)

  2. Microsoft Account, managing aliases: There is no 'make primary' link next to the email I would like to make primary

    Hello GI,

There is a possibility that you are experiencing this issue due to a browser problem or due to some conflict with the Microsoft account settings. For us to effectively assist you, we would like to ask a few questions:

    • Could you tell us which browser are you using when you're trying to manage your aliases?
    • Have you tried using a different browser and check if you're having the same issue?

To change your primary alias and to remove an alias from your account, you may follow the steps provided in this
article. The article describes the steps on how you can manage aliases on your Microsoft account.

We're looking forward to your response.

  3. Unable to change primary alias - Microsoft Account

    Hi John,

As per the description, you are experiencing issue with you are unable to change the primary alias for your Microsoft account on the system.

I certainly understand your concern and appreciate all your efforts in trying to fix this issue.

I would like to provide you with the information that
an account alias is an email address or phone number that you use to sign in to your Microsoft account. You can have multiple aliases, and use any of them with Microsoft services such as Outlook.com, Skype, OneDrive,
    Office, Xbox, Windows and more.

Your primary alias appears on devices such as your Xbox, Surface, and Windows Phone, and is the email OneDrive sends from when you share. You can choose a different alias to be the primary one at any time.

An alias is also the best way to change your email, but keep all your mail.
Add an alias, then make the new alias primary. Then you can
keep or remove the original alias.

I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

Note: The email alias at the top of the list without a Make primary link is your current primary alias.

    • Uncheck the Send me promotional offers from Microsoft box if you like, and click/tap on Yes to confirm.
You may also try the following steps given below and check if that helps.

    • Navigate to Start>Settings>Account>Your Account.
    • In the right pane, click on Sign in with a local account instead.
    • Provide your current Microsoft Account Password.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.
    • You can leave the Enter Password option empty, however, it is highly recommended to keep a password on your system to keep it safe.

    For reference:

I would suggest you to refer to the article given below and check if that helps.

    Changing Microsoft Account through Aliases

    Accounts and Aliases

Recently, I have inadvertently added another Microsoft account (alias?) which has now become my main account (there is no remove option):

Upon trying to remove this account, this new account/alias does not appear in my Microsoft account:

How do I remove the newly made account/alias and just have my original account (ie the bottom email address)?

    Thanks in advance.
